NEW Executive Principal Appointment

Dear Harrison Community,

Please see the linked communication from our Director of School Improvement Judy Hamilton. It has been announced that Andy Mison will be the next Executive Principal of Harrison School, commencing in Term 1 2022.

Andy is currently the Principal of Hawker College and is an experienced School Leader in our system. I know that our community will be in good hands as he brings his extensive knowledge, skills, and passion to the Harrison School Executive Principal role.

I am looking forward to inviting Andy over to visit soon so that we can extend a warm Harrison School welcome and congratulate him in person on his appointment.

In other news, it has also been announced today that I will be the next Principal at Lyneham High School, commencing in Term 1 2022. The Harrison community is one that I have loved working with and I will continue to watch its growth (all be it from afar) with a keen interest and pride.

Kind Regards

Jacqui Ford

Return to On-Campus Learning Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all well and enjoying the spring taking shape around our region. Below you will find the promised detailed information about the changes that will be taking place in our school to ensure a COVID-safe return of students to our school campus.

If you have any questions about the operation of our school - including issues like mask-wearing, ventilation, and cleaning - the Education Directorate also has some very useful Frequently Asked Questions on their website which may answer questions you have.

We will also be holding an 'online parent forum: Q and A on the return from remote learning at Harrison School' Wednesday 20th October at 6:30pm. Please save the date and we will be in touch soon regarding the details on how you can join us.

Of course, you can also email or call if we can assist and/or support your child's individual transition back to on-campus learning.

Indoor air quality plans will be available on our school's website by 22 October 2021.

I thank you for your patience during this time as we worked to implement the current ACT Health guidelines and a safe and supported return of students to on-campus learning. I look forward to seeing our students returning to school over the coming weeks.

2022 Electives for Year 7-10

2022 Electives for Year 7-10

Dear Year 7-10 Parents and Carers,

It has come to that time of the year where we start to plan, develop and construct classes for 2022. Your child would have received an email on 6 October 2021 from 'select my subjects' portal to their own login where they will need to select their elective preferences for both semesters in 2022.  This email outlines the requirements and any changes made to the previous process.

An information sheet on how to select their preferences can also be found in their email.  If your child has not received this email please ask them to search for 'select my subjects'.  All students will be required to make their selection by Monday 18 October 2021.

For more information regarding what units are being offered in 2022, please refer to our school's elective website.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact the school on info@harrison.act.edu.au or email Rebecca.Platten@ed.act.edu.au.

Aerosol Ban at Harrison School

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to remind parents, carers, and students that aerosol spray cans are not permitted on school grounds. Not only can they cause issues for students and staff with respiratory conditions, they can also be problematic for our emergency services system if used incorrectly.

Roll on deodorant can be used appropriately before/after physical education classes if required.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school on 6142 2200.
